We are excited to announce that we are now offering SYFOVRE™ (PEGCETACOPLAN INJECTION). SYFOVRE™ is a new FDA-approved drug from Apellis Pharmaceuticals that can slow the
progression of retina damage caused by Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration (Dry AMD) with geographic atrophy (GA).
This is a significant innovation for people living with this condition, as it is the first and only drug on the market proven in clinical trials to slow the progression of geographic atrophy, which is the main cause of severe vision loss in patients with Dry AMD.
We are proud to offer our patients the most advanced and effective treatment options for their retinal health needs.
If you are interested in discussing whether or not SYFOVRE is the right treatment option for you, please call to schedule an appointment with Matthew Strachovsky, MD. Dr. Strachovsky specializes in diseases and treatments of the retina.
WHAT IS SYFOVRE?
SYFOVRE is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for geographic atrophy (GA), the dry advanced form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). SYFOVRE has been proven to slow the growth of GA lesions in 2 clinical trials.
WHAT IS GA (GEOGRAPHIC ATROPHY)?
GA is an irreversible eye disease that is the dry, advanced form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). GA will continue to worsen over time and lead to permanent and irreversible damage to your retina, the part of your eye that allows you to see. GA cannot be corrected with eyeglasses or surgery. When GA progresses, lesions, or patches of damaged cells, will grow and affect your central vision.
HOW DOES GA AFFECT YOUR VISION?
As GA progresses, your symptoms may increase. While you may not have noticeable changes when looking at an eye chart, GA lesions will continue to damage your vision over time.
Symptoms of GA include:
Hazy or blurred vision.
Missing or blurry spots appearing in central vision.
Difficulty seeing in low light.
Straight lines looking crooked
Colors appearing dull or faded.
STARTING SYFOVRE:
HOW DO I GET STARTED ON SYFOVRE?
If you have geographic atrophy (GA), talk to your retina specialist to see if SYFOVRE is right for you. They can tell you more about how to get started.
It’s important to know that GA cannot be cured, and the damage cannot be reversed. However, slowing down lesion growth can help delay the progression of GA.
HOW LONG AND HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO RECEIVE TREATMENT?
SYFOVRE is not a one-time treatment; rather, SYFOVRE is available once every 25 to 60 days depending on your retina specialist’s recommendation. Talk to your retina specialist about which treatment schedule may be right for you. Stay on SYFOVRE as long as your retina specialist recommends so it can continue to delay lesion growth.
